Top Grossing iPhone Apps (October 2026)

Q: What is the highest-grossing app on the App Store?

The highest-grossing app changes based on daily consumer spending, but it is typically dominated by major subscription-based entertainment platforms (like YouTube and TikTok) or high-revenue mobile games (like Roblox and Candy Crush). You can see the current top earner at the #1 position on this page.

Q: How much revenue do top-grossing apps make?

Nobody outside Apple and the developer knows exactly. Apple publishes rank, not revenue, and App Store Connect earnings are private. The figures on this page are third-party estimates for the last 30 days worldwide, rounded and shown before Apple's 15-30% commission — useful for comparing apps against each other, not as an accounting figure for any one of them.

Q: How often do App Store rankings change?

Apple updates its public App Store charts multiple times per day. Appstro refreshes its data daily to ensure you see the most current rankings, revenue estimations, and user rating trends.

Q: Do free apps with subscriptions count as grossing?

Yes. In fact, free-to-download apps that monetize through recurring subscriptions or in-app purchases make up the vast majority of the top-grossing chart. A premium up-front price is no longer the primary driver of high earnings on iOS.

Q: How does Apple calculate grossing rankings?

Apple's grossing algorithm calculates rankings based on the total dollar amount spent by users in the App Store over a rolling window. This includes initial app purchases, in-app purchases, and subscription renewals, minus Apple's commission (which is typically 15% to 30%).

Q: Where can I analyze developer portfolios for these top apps?

You can click on any publisher name in the table or visit our App Store Publishers directory to analyze complete developer portfolios, total rating counts, and aggregate metrics.

Revenue and download figures below are estimates.

They are third-party estimates, cover the last 30 days worldwide, are rounded, and are stated before Apple's commission. Apple publishes no per-app revenue, so no exact figure exists publicly for any app here — treat these as a way to compare apps against each other, not as anyone's accounts. A figure printed with a "<" is a floor, not a measurement. Estimates as of September 20, 2026.

Biggest movers on the grossing chart

Comparing Apple's top-grossing chart on October 14, 2026 with October 7, 2026, the closest daily snapshot to 7 days earlier. A move up or down is a change in position, which is not the same as a change in revenue.

How are apps ranked on the App Store?

App Store rankings are determined by Apple's proprietary algorithm, which evaluates multiple performance signals. While the free and paid charts focus heavily on recent download velocity and installation numbers, the top-grossing chart is driven by total revenue generated. This includes up-front purchase prices, in-app purchases (IAP), and recurring subscriptions.

Consequently, many free-to-download apps dominate this list. To understand how these apps optimize their visibility and drive conversions, developers use tools like our App Store Keyword Tool to monitor search performance and rankings. Methodology

Ranking comes straight from the App Store's public top-grossing iPhone chart for the US App Store, refreshed daily. Revenue on this chart is driven by in-app purchases and subscriptions, not download price. The revenue and download figures beside each app are third-party estimates covering the last 30 days worldwide — Apple publishes no per-app revenue, so no exact figure for any app on this page exists publicly. Chart movement compares the latest daily snapshot with the one closest to seven days earlier.

How we measure this

Work on your own app's ranking

Every list on this page is built from public App Store data — the same source behind the App Store keyword research tool, which expands Apple's own autocomplete and scores each term by how hard the live search results look to break into. It sits alongside all 76 free App Store optimization tools here: keyword tracking, listing and screenshot teardowns, localization audits and the rest.
